Hosea 2 v 14- 15 "Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the wilderness and speak tenderly to her There I will give her back her vineyards, and will make the Valley of Achor a door of hope. There she will respond as in the days of her youth, as in the day she came up out of Egypt".
Can we take a moment and acknowledge how romantic God is? Also, how in love He is with His creation! Out of all the 66 books in the Bible, I have to say, the book of Hosea is the one that made me realize how gaga God actually is for us... So, just to give you context, Hosea is a prophet that God uses to marry a prostitute (if you are shocked by this then you don’t know your Word. God is the author of the saying we use: “doing the most” to prove a point). I digress as a symbol of the way Israel had become. God got them out of Egypt and slavery, into the Promised Land, and now they had adopted new gods, and evil had started to corrupt their hearts. But yet again, in God’s infinite mercy and love, He continued to try to get Israel to fall back into alignment like they once did, into the plans He had for them.
But how similar are we to the people of Israel? I will speak for myself and realize I identify with this story so much. I struggled with being worthy of love for as long as I can remember. My desire to be wanted and noticed caused me to entertain friendships I shouldn’t have, get into relationships I knew darn well weren’t it, and use my body in ways I knew saddened the Holy Spirit. Yet again, He still wanted me! ME! And He still wants YOU! As much as there are great mysteries in God and no one can ever fully grasp all of His essence, one thing is inevitable: His desire for relationship with His creation and even more, to see it set free.
God wants to strip out the false ideologies you have acquired over time that are hindering you from believing His project of peace and prosperity over your life. He wants you to believe the whispers He sends to your heart; He wants you to live in abundance and eat the good things of the land. How are we saved but still living with so many mental chains? God took us out of Egypt (the world) and allowed us to get into the Promised Land (salvation), only for us to remain captive to our past or shortcomings...
Let’s take a decision to believe God truly has a desire for you to be free and not only to be free, but to remain in freedom. Oftentimes this process can look like everything around you falling apart, where you are finally out of strength and you have no other choice but to run into the arms of the Father and allow Him to bring you back to life. He will never stop chasing after you, but will you finally allow Him to show you how good it can get? Imagine the level of peace, of open doors, of favor that He wants to pour into your life... How do you do that, you ask? By surrendering. Letting go of control and allowing Him to speak life back into you.
Prayer:
Father God, I want to say thank You for Your love and mercy You have poured over my life. Thank You for the sacrifice at the cross that gives me free access to Your love, peace, and joy. Jesus, You say in Your Word that You have come so that we can live in abundance. Allow me to experience this abundance in my mind, my heart, and my spirit. Show me how good life can get. Show me how to let go and allow You to have full access to my life. I choose to let You be the captain of my life. I choose to let You use me as You wish. I choose to make You the Lord of my life. Thank You in advance for the turnaround in my life. Overflow my cup and may it flow over every dead area of my life. I command my life to produce fruit. I command my life to be prosperous in Jesus’ mighty name, for the glory of Your holy name and the confusion of the enemy. Thank You in advance because it is done by faith. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
